What Mercari's published US fees take from a sale, and what reaches you: 10% of the item price and any shipping the buyer paid, which pays for the label rather than reaching you.
A sale, buyer pays for a Mercari label, selling for $50.00 with $7.00 shipping added at checkout: Mercari’s published fees are $5.70, charged on the shipping as well, and $44.30 reaches you. The buyer’s shipping goes to the prepaid label, so it is left out.

What decided this: 10% of the item price and the shipping the buyer paid. Mercari adds that shipping at checkout for the prepaid label, and its sales report counts net proceeds from the item price, so this leaves the shipping out of what reaches you.
