Why these give a different answer from other calculators
Twelve eBay fee calculators were run on the same three sales on 2026-09-13. They gave seven different answers. On a $2,500 guitar the spread was $206, because some had no guitar category, and pages that agreed on a plain sale split on whether a promoted listing is charged on the sales tax. eBay's own page says it is.
Each calculator here reads its rates from the platform's fee page, reproduces the worked examples the platform publishes, and shows the line of arithmetic that produced the number, so you can check it rather than trust it. How that is done.
